Ecology and community support in Zambia
Our mission is to go to Zambia in the summer before we go off to University or into the big wide world. We are going to be doing some ecology research based on the effects of small community life and the environment. We have also, as a group, decided that, while we are there, we would like to be able to help in the community project that is already set up. This is to help build a school for the children from the community in which we will be staying. At the moment these children have to travel a long way to get to school in Livingstone where they are bullyed physically, as well as mentally, by the other children. We felt touched by this project and really wanted to help so have decided to take part alongside our ecology project. Our total aim is to raise around £20,000 so every penny counts. There will be a group of around 12 students from the current year 13 at Corfe Hills School in Broadstone taking part and we are also hoping to take two or three members of staff along as well. It will be an amasing experience for everyone involved and will hopefully contribute to further ecological studies in that area and be of help to the third world community that we will be visiting.
